Modern Nun is a queer indie pop band from Chicago, Illinois. The band is fronted by Edie McKenna and accompanied by Lee Simmons on guitar and Haley Webster on drums. They released their first EP, 'NAME,' in January 2022.
Minnesotan songwriter, producer, musician and vocalist Mike Kota is an emerging alternative indie artist. With influences like King Krule, Bon Iver, and Pinegrove, Mike writes songs based in feeling and healing. While starting as a means of expression and creativity, over time, music also became therapy. Writing became a practice of reflecting on moments or feelings, which she can manifest, analyze, re-write, have the last word on, or translate into sound to sulk in until she can move on from it.
Often beginning in poetry, or fragments of several poems pieced together, she puts her lyrics into melody stretched over satisfyingly discordant instrumentation. Her sound is characterized by rich vocals, swells of harmonies, and heavy emotion.
As a stubbornly independent young artist in a male-dominated industry that has already proven itself worthy of caution, Mike self-records and produces most of her music. Mike is also known as the front woman of the band Good Luck Finding Iris.
Josephine is a romantic they love love and all there is about it, that's what most of their songs are about. Recently, they've have been writing more about how life feels as a 20 something year old in this world. Their sound is indie, spacey and relaxed, with some folk as well.
