DESCRIPTION

Ever thought about holding your own backyard solar rave? Now's your chance. Join Vaux Flores for a hands-on DIY electronic instrument workshops where the resultant instrument can be powered by alternative energy sources including solar, wind, hydro and microbial fuel cell (also works with traditional synthesizer methodologies including control voltage, gates and sequencers, etc). Over the course of a one-hour session, participants will learn the basics of electronics as they relate to this DIY instrument. You’ll also learn creative approaches to utilizing alternative energy sources in musical performance using building techniques that are entirely solder-free. Once complete, participants will be given the opportunity to test their instrument with several alternative (and conventional) power sources and of course will get to keep their instrument at the end of the session. No prior electronics experience is required though we ask that participants be at least over the age of 11 and that all participants under the age of 17 are accompanied by an adult.
